Hi, I am SHAGHAYEGH!

UX/UI Designer | Artist | Curator | Lecturer | MFA

With a background in Social Practice & a passion for transforming cultures & building inclusive infrastructures.

My Name Means Red Poppy, a symbol of love and life in Persian poetry!

When I moved from Tehran to San Francisco in 2011, many suggested changing my name. But I came to realize the beauty in how people pronounce names—each pronunciation reflects the richness of diverse cultures and backgrounds. It's a wonderful reminder of the world’s variety, and I embrace that through my name.

So don’t worry; I love hearing the different ways people say it!

About Me

  • Fueled by Curiosity, Driven by Resilience

Growing up in Iran with restricted access to global information fueled my determination to learn. Using anti-filters to bypass bans on sites like Google and YouTube, I stayed connected to the outside world. This curiosity led me to pursue education in the U.S., where I could freely access to knowledge. Today, I bring that same passion to my work as a UX/UI designer, creating inclusive, impactful experiences while staying ahead of technological advancements.

  • Award-Winning Artist Visual Artist with Obsession for Creative Ways of Connections & Communications

Exploring Creative Ways of connection and communication through Technology

When I sought refuge in San Francisco in 2011, I found myself deeply intrigued by the emergence of live video chats in Iran. This fascination led me to explore innovative ways of connecting across distances. By leveraging video projection and live video chat, I was able to synchronize the sunrises and sunsets of San Francisco and Tehran, despite the 11.5-hour time difference. I even brought my mother into my art studio virtually, projecting her life-size presence into my creative space.

My work started to focus on exploring innovative methods of connection and communication, demonstrating how technology can forge meaningful relationships and transcend physical boundaries, bringing loved ones closer regardless of distance.
